The Campus: KCTCS Campus in Hindman, KY

The Knott County Adult Learning Center has a caring, competent staff ready to assist students in the following areas:

  • Identifying and setting goals for self-improvement 
  • TABE assessment
  • Preparing for the GED
  • Improving math, reading and writing skills
  • Studying for entrance exams (college, tech schools and the military)
  • Acquiring job acquisition skills (resume writing, computer literacy and keyboarding)
  • Using online curriculum products at www.kyvae.org
  • Computer classes

Students may access adult education services at several off-site locations:

  • Beaver Elementary School, Cordia Elementary School, Emmalena Elementary School 
  • Home tutoring provided by Mennonite service workers


 

GED/Basic Skills Instruction is a FREE service offered to anyone over the age of eighteen and to persons over sixteen who meet program guidelines.


Locations: Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe Counties

Program Description:
The mission of Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative’s Adult Education Program is to enable under-educated adults to achieve their educational goals in a way that ensures recruitment, determines programmatic need, fosters teamwork and commitment and provides successful learning experiences so that an ever-increasing number of students will attain enhanced personal satisfaction and function as contributing members of society.

Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative’s Adult Education Services are provided free of charge to eligible residents within the eight county service area.
