The Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative anticipates a position opening for a self motivated, self-starter to work with Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse among Secondary School Students. The person selected for this position will work primarily in Owsley County High School. Qualifications necessary: 4 year college degree in counseling, social work, education or related field. Previous experience working in the field of counseling, working as an advocate for youth and/or training or experience in working with families of at-risk youth would be helpful. Must be skilled in oral and written communication. This is a grant program. Anticipated length of grant: 2 additional years. Salary: up to $40,000 + fringe; 190 days calendar. Primary Job Duties Include: · Working with classroom teachers to implement all aspects of the Class Action program component · Assurance of program fidelity to Class Action guidelines · Assisting with providing a full-range of substance abuse prevention and early intervention services to secondary school students · Working with staff at the Alternative Education site to implement Teen Intervene · Assist with individual assessments of students to determine their level of substance use, their families level of use, and the need for additional help · Assistance with referrals to counseling, based upon individual assessments · Working with staff/agencies to conduct evening parent programs for parents whose children are in counseling · Partnering with community agencies to reduce underage alcohol abuse. · Provision of referral service to other sources of help in the community · Other as requested by Project Director |
